Our first 18 weeks of our 6th grade students using iPads embedded into their daily routines at school. There are a variety of exciting happenings we want to share with you:
Highlights:
- In Math...
- Students are using Google forms that feed into a spreadsheet that allows real-time charting of data (evaluate the data that is causing the chart to change)
- Homework - take picture of math assignments and submitting them through Google Classroom - teachers using Google Classroom to correct the papers
- In Social Studies...
- On snow days-students were able to work on writing at home...third wave of snow (writing is still due). ⅓ of students had it completed. Only gave 1 day upon return before due date.
- Regarding Communication...
- Using StudentVue to email individual students
- Students can check their grades and website - whenever;
- Students have more access to review tools (Quizlet and GoFormative - seeing more engagement)
- Google Classroom notices to announce assignments (for entire class)
- Presentation Skills...
- Prominent person - final presentation on Keynote app. Great we don’t have to check out labs. Nice to have them work on it home.
- Regarding classroom workflow using Google Classroom:
- Teachers are excited about the real time feedback on writing pieces on Google classroom while they are writing
- Teachers like having google classroom to avoid a pile of paperwork to bring home.
- Kids like having Google Classroom - homework is not lost, more organized
- Teachers and Students liking Formative Assessments for instant feedback:
- Teachers using formative feedback (Google Forms) to adjust lessons based on this class time feedback.
- Realtime feedback in classroom (Google Classroom & Kahoot, Google Forms, Socrative). Immediate feedback for use and higher investment by students
- Kahoot for classroom review
